Showcasing the
Beauty of
Natural Woods

Lawrence Project
My friend Larry Lawrence has a family heirloom collection of scrimshaw-engraved sperm whale’s teeth and a walrus tusk. He was looking for a way to display them. We came up with this design. I had a piece of myrtlewood with a unique burl structure along one edge. I incorporated that wild edge along the front of the main base. The biggest challenge was to design a structure that would support the walrus tusk in a vertical orientation, while also making the display physically stable.
